iCard becomes the
"Official Wireless Timing and Scoring Display System of the Hooters Pro Cup
Series"
Longs, SC—Fans carrying a stopwatch to the race track is a tradition that
has been around since races were held on the sands of Daytona. While
traditions rarely vanish, they do evolve. And iCard Real-Time Race
Information is at the evolution forefront.
In 2005, iCard will become the "Official Wireless Timing and Scoring Display
System of the Hooters Pro Cup Series."
"The bottom line is that iCard will bring real-time information to the teams
and fans of a marquee racing series," said Richard Purgason, iCard vice
president of sales and marketing. "This is a huge step for us, and it
augments our already solid applications that we have in drag racing and road
racing. It’s going to be a fun year."
Pro Cup teams will have access to tap into real-time scoring during
practice, qualifying and the race at all 30 events during the season. Racing
Electronics will handle the sale of the iCard System to teams and fans at
the track, while RACE INC., the "Official Souvenir Vendor of USAR," will
offer rental units for fans.
"The Hooters Pro Cup Series is built around being fan friendly, and the
iCard System will only enhance that," said Tony Cox, USAR director of
operations. "The iCard System will allow our fans and teams to keep up with
on-track action from the palm of their hands. We wanted a new window for
everyone to further enjoy our races, and we believe the iCard System will do
that."
The iCard System is a unique cartridge that works with Nintendo’s handheld
Game Boy systems and delivers up-to-date, real-time race information. In
addition, iCard will work on a laptop PC with the iCardUSB to bring all race
details right to the fingertips of fans and teams.
For years, iCard has provided real-time scoring for many series, including
IRL, Champ Cars, ALMS, Grand Am, SCCA World Challenge, Drag Racing, SKUSA,
and dozens of amateur events around the country.

Registered Pro Cup teams will receive an information packet next week with
