My father and I run Spec Racer
Fords in the Sports Car Club of America national road racing events.
During a qualifying session for one of the first races of the 2005 season,
my pit crew noticed another crew radioing their driver information about how
he was doing relative to the rest of the field. They were holding a
gameboy and getting all this information real-time through an icard device.
How cool! After the last lap of the session, my crew went over to ask the crew with the icard how I had done. It turns out that I had held the pole position for the entire session, right up to the last lap. The other crew was able to radio their driver and tell him just how hard he needed to push it to come out on top and that is exactly what he did, bettering my time by less than a tenth of a second. The icard not only provides a great way for crews and fans to stay on top of the action, but can also really make a difference in a race situation like this one.
